Stop the cycle if water is spreading onto the floor. Turn off the dishwasher and, if accessible, close its water supply. Dry the area promptly to protect cabinets and flooring.

Common leak locations

At the front of the door

A damaged gasket, debris along the sealing surface, excess detergent, incorrect detergent or an unlevel dishwasher can allow water to escape. Oversudsing often looks like a door leak even when the gasket is intact.

Under the centre of the dishwasher

The wash motor, sump, pump seals or attached hoses may leak only while the machine is circulating or draining. The lower panel usually must be removed to identify the exact source.

Near the water connection

A loose fitting, damaged supply line or inlet-valve problem may leak whenever the dishwasher fills—or even while it is turned off.

During draining

A damaged drain hose, loose clamp or backed-up household drain can release water near the end of the cycle.

Avoid repeated testing: Running several more cycles can worsen cabinet or floor damage. A leak should be located before regular use resumes.
